Basic Money Principles 1 (The Law of Exchange)

The first thing I want you to realize as we journey together is the fact that there are profound principles guiding the use of money. Many folks do not know this. It doesn’t matter whether you are conscious of them or not, they still affect you. Just like the law of gravity; no matter your class in life, if you go against it you are bound to face the consequences. I will try as much as possible to open up some of the principles in this series.

THE LAW OF EXCHANGE

This law simply states that before money can be acquired, something must be exchange for it. In the ages, there was nothing like money. The only way of acquiring goods is simply by exchanging what you have for what you need. This form of transaction is referred to as trade by barter. If you need an orange, but have a mango you must look for someone who needs a mango and at the same time has an orange. Later, problems sprang with the trade by barter system. Commodities were later used and up to the era of money.

Money is only intended to be a means of exchange. I wonder where we got the mentality that we can become rich without exchanging anything for money. Anytime you think you need money, the first thing that should ring in your head is “what do I have to exchange for money”. Look into your life; there are certain skills you posses that can be exchanged for money. The reason why there are many scammers today is because the people who engage in it are too lazy to exchange valuable things for money.

If you ever attempt to go against this principle, you are sure to be poor. I don’t mean to cause you, but  that’s the truth. Money is a medium of exchange. Always be willing to exchange something for money. Space will not permit me to discuss the various things (which I believe everybody posses) that can be exchanged for money in this bulletin, but I will reserve for one of our meetings. I pray you don’t miss it.

We’ll move to another principle in my next post. Till then!
