Live Intentionally

Live intentionallyHannah was a final year student of one of the foremost University in the country. She has been doing great and feeling cool until the arrival of this faithful day. What really happened? She was diagnosed and it was discovered that she had a hole in her heart. Not only that, she was told by the doctor that she has only 6 months to live. Ever since then, she became very moody and sad. A normal human being lives his or her life without conscious calculations. As for her, she was always calculating the remaining number of days ahead of her. For Hannah, life became very valuable. Six months meant ‘the entire world’ to her. This is pathetic, you say? Well, that’s how I also find it. It’s a true life story and not a brainy-framed one except for the name used.

The question is “What will you do if the same happens to you?” How will you begin to live your life now if you receive a mail from God stating that you have only six months to live with your desire to make a meaning out of life?

Really, life is too short to play all around and not mind your course. Too many of us waste time under the disguise that there is still time. Remember that you have just one opportunity to make a point. Your life comes once; it will never repeat itself. There is no second half in life…it’s just one half. Once you fail to stamp your relevance on the fabric of life with the breadth you have now, then that’s all. In life, its not the breadth you take that matters, instead it is the moments that take your breadths away.

You’re done for it if you allow life slip off your hands without making the most out of it. It’s not all about how many years you live; instead it’s about how many of your years count. Gone were the days of Methuselah when life was measured by duration; it’s now measured by donations. Martin Luther King Jnr. died at age 38. You must have thought he spent long years on earth if you’re not told. He made 38 years of his life count for humanity. What will the world have to say about you long after you are gone? Let me make it sound more frank…How will your burial ceremony be announced. Do you want to be like a snake moving on a rock whose paths cannot be seen?

Spiritual folks listen to this; life is not all about salvation. It’s not just a matter of I am born again. Our master calls us the salt of the earth. A salt adds value to food. How much value are you adding to humanity? If it’s all about salvation, then you should have died the moment you gave your life to Christ. I have discovered in my short journey that many Christians are earthly useless. I know of many of them who only walk through life as if they are a personal assistant to Christ. God wants to reveal his glory through your earthly impact.

Begin to live your life intentionally now. Life is not a joke. Imagine that you have just six months to live; what will you want people to say about you after six months. Stop wandering about like someone looking for an unknown job. You shouldn’t be jobless up to a point that you can’t even identify with your identity. You have an identity to protect. The best way to protect it is to rise to the call and start making every moment of your life count for humanity.

Remember, you will pass through this world but once, do any good thing you can do.  Show any kindness you can show to any woman or man alive. You have just this chance for the contest, never again will it come back. This is the time, no turning back, to prove your worth to humanity. For you will never never pass this way again. Remain Lifted!
