Rest in Peace, Harshini Gowda

As I was enjoying the Operations Management lecture this morning, two old staff of my institution entered. Within the seconds it took them to take permission from the lecturer and faced the class, my mind ran through several possible reasons that brought them in. What could have been so urgent that can’t be communicated via the notcie board (or class representatives) as usual? Several thoughts flowed in, but I was wrong! They came to announce the death of a student.

Today, one of our college students by the name Harshini Gowda had an accident while coming to college and has died. We will observe a 2 minutes silence for her at 11:40AM. Once you hear the alarm, stop everything you’re doing and say your silent prayers.

What? OMG! Death. It was like I lost everything. I became completely destabilized that I lost interest in the lecture. I didn’t know when tiny tear drops filled my eyes.

She was in her third semester in the Civil Engineering department. Many have said all sorts of positive things about her. How can we lose her so soon? Why does death only take the best of us? *tears* I couldn’t stand seeing her picture on the notice board.

I am yet to get over the news. How can I? A young and bright lady that said bye to her family with a smile in the morning, will never return home? A young chap, who would have probably said things like “when I get to school today, I will…”, like I said to someone this morning. She didn’t even make it to school. Why? An accident. Death.

I can’t seem to get over how her family will be feeing at the moment. That thought alone cripples me and has never stopped to bring tears to my eyes, even as I type this. I pray that God gives her family the fortitude to bear the loss. May God comfort them. *tears*

Today, we lost a star who will be forever remembered. May your gentle soul rest in peace, Harshini Gowda
